iQ HealthTech are pleased to announce that they have partnered with UK IT services provider RedCentric PLC to provide a state of the art, bespoke, cloud hosting NHS platform for iQ HealthTech’s electronic chemotherapy prescribing system, iQemo.
The new hosting platform that went live this week will allow iQemo to comfortably handle the increased demand from the growing number of NHS Trusts that are now adopting iQemo, including The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester, the largest single site cancer centre in Europe.
The system is connected to the NHS’s N3 network to ensure that necessary NHS governance and data compliance requirements are met. The new hosting platform is HSCN (Health and Social Care Network) compliant and is ready for those NHS Trusts who will be making the switch over from N3 to HSCN.
The new hosting platform provides a number of features including improved security, performance, resilience and scalability.
E-prescribing is now such a critical part of the running of a hospital and as a result high availability and disaster recovery are a key feature of the new hosting platform. The NHS iQemo environment is automatically replicated across multiple data centres in different parts of England using Windows Clustering and SQL Server Enterprise Always On Availability Groups so that in the extremely unlikely event of a data centre outage iQemo users will not experience any downtime.
The new infrastructure has been future proofed so that it can scale up to ensure optimum performance as more NHS Trusts start using the iQemo chemotherapy e-prescribing platform.
iQemo is a unique platform, it is currently the only chemotherapy prescribing system of its kind that is networked NHS wide over N3. This solution paves the way for many cost and efficiency savings for chemotherapy treatment centres across the NHS.
“Our new cloud hosting platform now enables any NHS Trust to take advantage of a robust, resilient and high-performance e-prescribing platform with built in disaster recovery spanning multiple data centres."
It is often difficult, expensive and time consuming for an individual NHS Trust to maintain an equivalent hosting solution internally. We are delighted that we can now offer this kind of high end solution as standard, enabling our NHS customers, present and future, to realise these kind of efficiency and cost saving benefits that cloud hosting brings.” – Doug Baker – Director iQ HealthTech.
